A complaint was filed on August 6 at the Area Police Office, Gajuri, against 49-year-old Prakash Magar from Darjeeling, India, for the alleged killing of his 32-year-old pregnant wife, Nisha Chhetri Magar. The couple was residing temporarily in Galchi Rural Municipality-6, Baireni Maheshdovan. According to the police, Nisha and Prakash are originally from Malarani Rural Municipality-2 in Arghakhanchi.
It is reported that the victim died on August 2 after being fatally beaten by the accused, who had been repeatedly assaulting her by alleging that she was pregnant with another man’s child. Neighbors alleged that the accused, who had been working as a laborer in Dhunganatar for some time, came to Maheshdovan on the night of the incident and killed his wife after repeatedly threatening to do so.
The body has been sent to Kathmandu Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem. DSP Makendra Kumar Mishra of the District Police Office Dhading informed that the accused was arrested on the evening of August 4.
