District Hospital Khandbari has seen a rise in the number of patients suffering from viral fever and dengue. Hospital administration has reported a shortage of nurses due to the increase in viral fever and dengue patients. Shekhar Khatri, the Information Officer of the hospital, noted that the incidence of fever and dengue cases has been on the rise since June 2024.
Information officer Khatri said that due to the increase in viral fever and dengue , patients have to be accommodated in passages and halls due to a shortage of beds. A majority of patients arriving at the district hospital in July were diagnosed with fever, dengue, and scrub typhus infections.
Since April 2024, District Hospital has recorded 160 cases of scrub typhus and 27 cases of dengue. In the fiscal year 2023-2024, dengue infections were reported in 1,144 individuals, while in the previous financial year, 520 cases of scrub typhus were documented. The viral fever has led to a rise in patient numbers at both government and private hospitals across the district. As per doctors viral fever can present symptoms such as headache, fever, vomiting, nausea, and cold.
