Students in Dhanusha Fell Sick After Consuming School Lunch

Thirteen students from National Primary School, Lakshmipur, Musarniya Rural Municipality-6 in Mukhiyapatti fell ill after consuming the lunch provided by the school on July 21.

Principal Satyanarayan Shah reported that the students became unwell after eating khichdi (a dish in South Asian cuisine made of rice and lentils with numerous variations) prepared at the school that morning. Principal Shah added that the students were admitted to Rama Memorial Hospital in Janakpur for medical care on the same day.

Similarly, Dr. Brij Yadav of Rama Memorial Hospital confirmed that the students suffered from food poisoning.

Jayakumar Yadav, Chairperson of Musaharaniya Rural Municipality, disclosed that the children from classes one to seven were affected after consuming stale food prepared earlier in the day.

Similarly, Surendra Jha, a parent and resident, said that although they repeatedly alerted the principal about the poor quality of the food and contaminated drinking water, he did not take any action.

Doctor Yadav said that the students were discharged and handed over to their parents on July 22 after their condition improved.
