District court sentenced 25-year-old Pramod Kumar Ram to 10 years imprisonment and compensation of Rs 25,000 rupees for killing 76-year-old senior citizen Reshmi Devi Ram of Surunga Municipality-7 Chakdaha, on 12 July.
A bench of District Judge Umanath Gautam found the accused guilty and sentenced him to imprisonment along with ordering compensation for the victims.
A complaint was filed at the Area Police Office, Kadarbona, on 17 November by Durganand Mochi ,the son of the victim alleging that the accused killed the victim on 16 November 2023.
The accused allegedly assaulted the victim by beating and pushing her to a concrete pillar resulting in severe head injury . The victim passed away during the treatment at Sapta Rishi Hospital, Lahan, Siraha, on November 16th, at 11:30 PM.
The post-mortem of the dead body was done on November 17 at the provincial hospital in Lahan, Siraha.
A complaint was registered in the Area Police Office, Kadarbona on 17 November 2023 . An arrest warrant was issued against the accused on 17 November 2023 and he was arrested on 5 February 2024 .
A charge sheet was filed on February 28 at the District Court, and the bench of Judge Udhir Nepali remanded the accused into custody for trial at Rajbiraj Prison from February 29 onwards.
