Unoperated Basic Health Unit in Simkot Caused Suffering for Patients

People in Simkot Rural Municipality-8 are facing significant difficulties because the Yangu Basic Health Unit building remains unoperated. Despite the government establishing the health center in the Rural Municipality in 2018, it has stayed unused, leaving the locals of Yangu without access to treatment.

Additionally, there has been a lack of attention from both local authorities and stakeholders regarding the issue. Manbahur Shahi, a resident of Yangu, emphasized that this neglect has caused significant problems for patients seeking health services. He noted that locals are compelled to travel to a distant health institution because of the poor condition of the local health facility.

Similarly, Local resident Pariyar stated that the four-room building, constructed by the federal government at a cost of Rs 39,00,000, has fallen into disrepair because it hasn’t been used. He expressed frustration that despite their repeated request to the local government to utilize the building for providing services to the citizens, there has been no response.

Sushila Rokaya, Vice Chairperson of Simkot Rural Municipality, stated that the health institution’s construction was overshadowed because it was not located between Yangu and Santa Rural Municipalities. She mentioned that the issue arose from a dispute between the two Rural Municipalities.
