The Child Club Network of the district has demanded the local administration to stop a child marriage of 16 years old girl. The girl was being forcefully married despite of her underage.
The club has demanded Chief District Officer to stop the marriage through a written letter on December 11. Her marriage has been fixed for December 12 according to Bhuwan Dahal of the network.
The demand was made because the girl’s father was forcefully compelling her for marriage according to Secretary Pradita Pokhrel of the network. She added “we tried for a dialogue with her parents but they denied and we were compelled to knock the door of administration”.
Chief District Officer Krishna Chandra Ghimire said that the administration has directed the girl’s father to stop the marriage after getting the letter from Child club of the district. He added that the parents have been aware of legal consequences of the marriage.
