The District Court sentenced 24-year-old Durga Nepali of Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan city-5 to three months imprisonment for the crime of child marriage against a 16-year-old girl.
Registrar Damodar Ghimire informed INSEC that the bench of Tejnarayan Paudel on May 30 sentenced the accused to three months imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 20,000 and Rs 800 to be deposited in the victim’s relief fund.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint on February 11, 2024, at the District Police Office alleging that the accused had enggaged in child marriage with the victim on February 8, 2024.
Nepali was subsequently arrested on February 12. The health examination of the victim was done on February 11 at Rapti Academy of Health Sciences, Ghorahi.
