Bhajan Human Rights Award to Bishunkhe of Dailekh

This year’s Bhajan Human Rights award will be presented to the social campaigner Parbati Bishunkhe of Dailekh.

The committee formed to recommend the name of active person involved in Human Rights and Social justice sector from mid and far-western region has recommended her name on December 7 according to the coordinator Basanta Gautam of selection committee.

The committee had announced on November 9 to recommend the name of the person active in the promotion and protection of human rights and social justice.

Bishunkhe is actively engaged in women, children and Dalit Rights since one and half decade. At present she is active as a coordinator in Local Peace Committee of Dailekh.

Bhajan Human Rights award is presented in each two years with a cash amount of Rs 25,000 along with letter of fecilitation. Prior to this, Mangala Kumari Shrestha of Guleriya Municipality-8 was presented this award.

The award was established in memory of late Human Rights Activist Bhajan Ram Chaudhary of INSEC Mid-Western regional office of Nepalgunj who died in an accident in 2012 May 19. He was active for a long time in Human Rights and social justice.

The award will be presented on December 10 on the occasion of Human Rights Day according to coordinator Gautam of selection committee.
