The police arrested 23-year-old Rahis Khan of Banke Khajura Rural Municipality-4 on November 4 for the charge of killing a 15-year-old girl from Shantipur after raping her.
District Police Office Gulmi SP Nabin Kishore Pradhan disclosed that the accused allegedly committed rape and killing of the girl on November 2, and subsequently disposed her body in the Hungdi River.
The victim went out of contact after she left to buy tobacco during her fieldwork on November 2. Her body was found drowned in the river on the morning of November 3.
The aggrieved party and local residents have been voicing their demands urging authorities to take strict action against the culprits and demanding for improved peace and security measures since the victim was found dead.
