On October 14, 2023, an 18-year-old boy was arrested by the police on charges of raping a 15-year-old girl. The District Police Office took action and apprehended the accused just before the statute of limitations for reporting the incident, which occurred a year earlier, was set to expire. The medical examination of the victim occurred almost a year after the incident took place.
The victim alleged that the accused had lured her to the Rajdebi Hotel in Rajbiraj, where the alleged rape occurred on October 19, 2022. According to Saptari Police, the initial complaint made by the victim had not been registered at that time. However, upon discovering evidence that both parties had stayed at the hotel, the complaint was filed on October 10, 2023.
Subsequently, on October 11, the District Police Office officially registered the complaint, and the medical examination of the victim was conducted on the same day at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj.
