Two women, aged 19 and 21, filed a complaint against a 28-year-old Ankit Shah from Awamtol, Damak Municipality-6, Jhapa District on October 10. They reported that he had lured them with job offers and was taking them to India.
DSP Manohar Prasad Bhatta of the District Police Office said that the victims were rescued on October 6 with the help of the police and Afanta Nepal. In addition, the accused was arrested and a case under human trafficking was registered. The victims alleged that he was taking them to India on October 4 in pretext of providing them good jobs.
According to the victims, they were lured with promises of good jobs but were forced into performing sexual work for a month.
