Haribahadur Karki, Ward Chairperson Malika Rural Municipality-7 assaulted 31-year-old Yamlal Panthi, Teacher of Devsthan Medium School inside school premises on September 4, 2023.
There was a dispute between Panthi and Ward President Karki over the transfer of Panthi’s wife Janaki Pandey. During the dispute, Karki assaulted the teacher inside the school boundary. Panthi expressed that he was beaten when he complained about the unjust transfer of the mother with a young child.
The treatment of the victim is under going in Gulmi Hospital, Tamghas. Panthi stated that he is going to Palpa for a city scan after general treatment at Gulmi Hospital due to head pain after the conflict.
Karki admitted that he assaulted Panthi after he started spitting and cursing at him.
He stated that Panthi started using abusive words when he went to inspect the construction work in the school. Navinkishore Pradhan, SP of the District Police Office said that since both parties hold public positions, efforts to facilitate them through the school are being made.
