On August 28, the police arrested a 51-year-old individual named Jhul Bahadur Thapa from Rishing Rural Municipality-7. Thapa has been charged with the rape of a 12-year-old girl.
The victim’s family lodged a complaint with the district police office on August 20, asserting that Thapa, who is also the headmaster of the local Jamiremai school, had raped the girl on August 16. SP Abdesh Bista of the District Police Office in Tanahun shared that Thapa had been on the run after the incident. He was apprehended by the police in Bhorletar of Madhya Nepal Municipality in Lamjung District.
Following the dissemination of information about the rape incident, a meeting was convened among the people’s representatives of the rural municipality in Rohbar to discuss potential avenues for reconciliation.
Medical examinations of the victim were conducted on August 20 at Damauli Hospital.
