Police arrested 34-year-old Surjaman Mali of Godavari Municipality-12, Thecho on the charge of human trafficking and transportation of a 35-year-old woman on July 29, 2023.
The victim alleges that the accused, under the pretext of providing five lakh rupees in support, repeatedly raped her since the year 2019. Furthermore, she claims that the accused also involved others in human trafficking activities. The victim lodged a complaint at the District Police Office, Jawalakhel, on July 29, and informed Superintendent of Police and Information Officer, Navaraj Karki, about the incident.
According to Chief SSP Siddhivikram Shah of Lalitpur Police Station, the accused was arrested following the victim’s complaint. The investigation commenced on July 30 with a five-day extension granted by the Lalitpur District Court.
As per the information provided by Ravi Shakya, the director doctor of Patan Hospital, the health examination of the victim was conducted at Patan Hospital on July 31.
