Suman Kumari Das, a 35-year-old resident of Rajviraj Municipality-1, filed a complaint against her husband, Umakanta Das, aged 42, at the District Police Office on June 25, 2023. The complaint alleges that she was subjected to a brutal beating by her husband. Suman, who is currently receiving medical treatment, has requested the intervention of the INSEC representative to initiate legal action.
According to the complaint, the accused, Umakanta Das, physically assaulted and verbally abused his wife on June 22, making false accusations against her. The incident left Suman with severe injuries, including a fractured head, which led to her being admitted to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajviraj. Medical professionals at the hospital treated her injuries, including stitching her head wound.
This is not the first instance of domestic violence in Suman and Umakanta’s relationship. Approximately a year ago, Umakanta had previously assaulted her. At that time, he admitted his mistake to the police and provided a written agreement promising not to abuse or harm her again. Despite this agreement, Suman alleges that Umakanta has continued to subject her to physical abuse and verbal insults within the confines of their home.
The gravity of the recent incident has prompted Suman to demand strict action against her husband. She asserts that Umakanta’s repeated acts of violence and abuse necessitate a firm response from the authorities.
