Delayed Reconstruction of School- Children Deprived of Education

The roof of Durga Primary School in Lower Jamalkatiya, K.I.Singh Rural Municipality-5, damaged by a storm, has not been repaired yet, compelling children to study in an open square.

Rita Bhatt, a teacher at Durga Primary School, complained that the damage the school building endures on June 4, is posing a problem in the teaching and learning process.

She said – ‘There are a lot of problems children face when they are forced to study in an open square during extreme heat.

Prem B.K, principal of Durga Primary School, said that three classrooms damaged by heavy rains in October last year were reconstructed only this year. They are facing problems with the damage has faced this year as well.

He said – ‘Last year, due to the same reason the number of attendees to school had decreased during extreme weather in winter and summer. Students are being deprived of education.

Laxman Bhatt, Chairperson of the School Management Committee, said that due to the weak financial condition of the school, the reconstruction of the school could not be completed. We have submitted the application to the ward for financial support, but they haven’t responded to it yet.

Durgasinh Rawal, Ward Chairperson of KI Singh Rural Municipality-5, said that the school building will be reconstructed soon. He said that since the application has been received in the ward office, within a week, the budget will be managed and the school building will be repaired and the education of the children will be facilitated.
