Father of Aartikumari Sah, 22, who was originally from Mithila Bihari Municipality-3 Mithileshwar Mauwahi filed a complaint, on May 22, 2023, at the District Police Office Dhnusha, against his daughter’s in-laws and husband on the charge of Killing for dowery, May 21, 2023.
He accused Sah’s husband Motibabu Sah, 32, father-in-law Madanmohan Sah, 70, mother-in-law, Renu Devi Sah, 70, and brother-in-law Rabi Sah, 27 of the crime.
The police arrested Motibabu Sah and Madanmohan Sah on the same day. DSP Bed Prasad Gautam of the District Police Office, infrared that the investigation is ongoing.
According to DSP Gautam, they are waiting for a post-mortem report. It could be either a suicide or a killing. He said that the police are conducting a detailed investigation into this.
Binod, the deceased’s father, said that Aarti married Moti Babu two years ago and had provided a dowry of Rs.25 lakhs. His daughter was repeatedly hit and physically and mentally tortured by her family for not bringing more dowry. I gave additional money to my daughter after she was constantly beaten.
Aarti’s father has alleged that the accused took the dead body to Kavya Hospital for treatment due to the fear of exposure. Sah said that the accused Motibabu had an extra-marital affair in Kathmandu and when Aarti came to know about it, there were frequent quarrels between them.
On the other hand, Motibabu Sah said that Aarti was in bed until noon on Sunday, as her health condition was not good. I asked her to eat. However, she did not agree. On the contrary, she started abusing me. I was angered and I slapped her and left the house. When he came home in the evening, he realized that their bedroom door was locked from inside and Aarti had committed suicide by hanging herself from the fan.
