Police arrested a 30-year-old, on May 17, 2023, on a charge of an attempt to rape his 26-year-old sister-in-law.
The victim said that her husband is residing in Malaysia, for foreign employment, for the past four years. She had filed a complaint at Zeromile Police Station, against her husband for depriving her and their children of maintenance costs, and against her in-laws for abusing her.
According to the victims, the police called the accused and his mother and told them to settle the family dispute between themselves. However, after they reached home the accused locked her in a room beat her, and attempted to rape her. He tore her clothes and threatened her with a knife when she resisted.
Birendra Yadav, the Assistant Sub Inspector of Police at Zeromile Police Station, said the accused was arrested from his home and handed over to the district police office for further action.
