Police arrested Sinha Bahadur Kami, 50, of Likhu Tamakosi Rural Municipality-3 Dhobi B.K Tol, on May 15, 2023, for the crime of rape of a 66-year-old woman. Kami who was released on bail, had absconded after the court decision finding him guilty of rape.
Inspector Rajuprasad Dhakal informed that the police arrested Kami from Manthali Municipality-1 Manthali Bazar, and presented him to the District court on the same day. The court sent him to jail for imprisonment on the same day.
A complaint was registered at The District Police Office against Kami, on January 9, 2022, accusing him of the rape of the victim on January 7, 2022, while she was in the traditional grieving period during her husband’s last rites.
The victim underwent a health examination, on January 8, 2022, at the Primary Health Center in Manthali. Kami was arrested on the same day.
Police registered a case of rape against Kami, in the District Court on January 11, 2022. The order of District Judge Badriprasad Oli was released on a bail of Rs. 10,00,00.
Judge Indira Sharma’s bench on September 15, 2022, gave a final order on the indictment against Kami and sentenced him to three years, five months, and seven days imprisonment, a fine of Rs. 10,00,00 one lakh, and compensation of Rs.15,000 to the victim’s relief fund. Kami absconded after the court’s decision.
Inspector Dhakal said the police arrested him on May 15, 2023, during their search for absconding Kami.
