Accused of Murder Arrested

Police arrested Vinod BK, 35, of Mechi Municiplaity-10, from Birtamod on April 29, 2023, on the charge of murder of Nira Pandey Achary, 35, on April 20, 2023, in Saraswatinagar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) of Nepal Police held a press conference in Maharajganj on April 30 and released the identity of the accused.

According to the CIB, Vinod, who was staying at a friend’s residence, allegedly entered Niru’s shop in Saraswatinagar, on the afternoon of April 20, 2023, with the intention of robbery on the pretext of buying utensils. He allegedly killed Niru by stabbing her from behind with a knife. He is further accused of robbing Niru of a gold chain, pieces of jewelry, and Rs. 12,000 in cash from the shop.

Accused BK is accused of selling the gold chain looted from Niru’s body on April 20, at a gold shop in Balaju for Rs.55, 000.

After that, BK stayed in a friend’s room in Lokantali for 6 days and reached Jhapa on April 26. The police searched for BK, who was absconding after the incident, with the help of CCTV footage.

DSP Sanjay Singh Thapa, spokesperson of the Central Bureau of Investigation informed that B.K. was arrested on April 29, from Illam Bus Park in Birtamod with the help of District Police Office Jhapa.

DSP Thapa said that the bureau is investigating the incident further.
