The Election Commission has directed Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav of the Madhes Province, Bara district constituency no. 2, to submit written clarification regarding the accusations against him of violating the election code of conduct.
The Election Commission through a letter today asked Chief Minister Yadav for an explanation regarding his travel to the polling stations of Pacharuta Municipality, during elections on April 23, 2023. The commission further asked for clarification regarding the nature of his vehicles and arrangements.
The letter addressed to the Chief Minister asked, “If his actions as a Chief Minister violate rule 5 of the Election Code of Conduct, 2023?”. He was required to provide clarification within 24 hours.
Chief Electoral Officer, Mukesh Upadhyaya, of Bara District Constituency No. 2, said that the Election Commission had asked Chief Minister Yadav to clarify that it violates the code of conduct to use a government vehicle as a means of transport to travel to the electoral constituency.
