A clash broke out between the police and a group led by Dipak Yadav, a candidate for mayor representing the Democratic Socialist Party, on1 2 April 2023. The clash resulted when the group led by Dipak Yadav, pelted stones at the municipality office of Garuda Municipality, and the police tried to stop the act.
The group was protesting against the decision of the Garuda Municipality regarding the public hearing scheduled to be held on 13 April 2023.
According to the police they resorted to the use of force after Deepak Yadav, who had protested in the past as well, vandalized the Municipal Office and Vehicles on 12 April.

SP Magar informed that four policemen, including Inspector Birendra Paswan, were injured by the protestors. SP Magar said that after the demonstration became violent, four rounds of tear gas were fired to control the crowd, and after the crowd could not be controlled 11 rounds of bullets were fired.
During the clash, Gajendra Yadav,22, of Garuda Municipality-5, was injured by police firing. The injured Yadav has been taken to Narayani Hospital Birganj for treatment. According to the police, the police arrested four people including Deepak Yadav on 12 April.
