The aggrieved party filed a complaint against Rahul Bhandari, 24, and Sunil Yadav, 29, for beating Sakila Khatun, 46, of Basbaria Rural Municipality-1, on 21 March 2023, for alleging her of witchcraft and trying to force her to eat feces.
According to the victim, the accused entered her house on 16 February 2023 and abused her, and beat her up. She informed the Local Police Office Harkathwa, of the incident on 19 March requesting for security. She alleges that the accused beat her up after she reached out to the police.
After proceeding with the legal process, the victim alleged that there was pressure from the accused party on the night of 15 March to settle the incident at the local level.
The victim was treated at Harkathwa health post on 12 February and was transferred to Sarlahi District Hospital Malangwa and Provincial Hospital Janakpur on 12 February for further treatment.
DSP Kailas Rai of the District Police Office informed that the incident will be investigated and action will be taken against the culprits according to the law.
The examination of the victim woman was conducted again on 21 March at Sarlahi District Hospital.
