Maimuna Siddiqui has been awarded the Sixth Bhajan Human Rights Award.
The Bhajan Human Rights Award, which is given every two years on the occasion of Human Rights Day, was given to Maimuna Siddiqui, a Muslim female leader and Chairperson of Fatima Foundation Nepal. She has contributed to the field of human rights and social justice therefore on the occasion of International Human Rights Day on December 10, she has been awared.
Judge Dr. Ratna Bahadur Bagchand, High Court Tulsipur Nepalgunj Senior presented the certificate of honor, an honourary shawl, and cash prize.
The Executive Committee decided to give the award to the personalities who have contributed to the field of human rights and social justice.
The Bhajan Ram Memorial Endowment Fund held a meeting on November 25, under the coordination of Senior Advocate Sunil Kumar Shrestha, and decided to appoint committee members Nirmala Sunar and Pradeep Chaudhary to the Award Selection Committee.
People who have contributed to human rights and social affairs in the Middle West and Sudurpaschim regions of the past have been selected and submitted to the committee.
Bhajan Ram Chaudhary, a long-time member of INSEC Nepalgunj, died in a bus collision on the morning of May 29, 2012. Advocate Basant Gautam, the Chairperson of the Organization, said that after the death, a fund was established by Nepalgunj and other associations, organizations, and media workers with institutional and individual support.
Bhola Mahat, secretary of the organization and INSEC Lumbini Province Coordinator, said that the first award for Bhajan Human Rights was awarded to Mangala Kumari Shrestha of Bardiya district.
