Manbahadur Khapangi, 54, Tehrathum, Atharai Rural Municipality-4, an inmate in Morang prison has died during medical treatment.
According to Tulsiram Bhagat, a Jailer of Morang Jail, Khapangi, was admitted to Koshi Hospital on October 29 and later died on the evening of November 1.
Khapangi was convicted of rape charges by the District Court of Tehrathum and was serving a sentence of 10 years. He was sentenced on January 23, 2018. Jailer Bhagat informed that Khapangi had served 2 years of his imprisonment in Tehrathum and was transferred to Morang prison on December 10, 2019.
The body of the deceased is at Koshi Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem.
The prison administration has started the process of handing over the body of the deceased to the victim’s family.
