Police have arrested Bikku Raya, 21, of l Biratnagar Metropolitan City-16 on July 24, 2022, on the charge of luring a 14-year-old girl into child marriage.
DSP Deepak Shrestha of the District Police Office told INSEC that the victim was rescued from the accused’s house of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-16 on July 24.
The girl’s brother said that the accused took the girl to his house on July 22, 2022, tempting her into marriage. The accused had married her on the same day and had hidden her in his house.
The victim’s brother said that the accused had eloped with his sister on July 22 when there was no one at home. The complaint was filed against the accused at the District Police Office on the same day.
According to the police, the accused was arrested for investigation and the girl was rescued from his house.
The police further added that the family members of the accused were also involved in hiding the girl.
According to DSP Deepak Shrestha, it was revealed during the initial statement that the accused worked in an industry near the girl’s house and visited the girl’s house during her free time.
The health examination of the victim girl was conducted at Koshi Hospital July 24.
