Most of the government health institutions in Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality are facing shortage of essential medicines for pregnant women and people with long term illness leaving service recipients in difficulty. In ward 6 and 7 of the Rural Municipality Basic Health Centre is in operation, Primary Health Centre in Ward 8, Health posts in Ward 1 to Ward 5. The health workers informed in most of these heath institutions are facing shortage of medicines related to iron, calcium, high blood pressure. Dipendra Jha, the Chief of Tilathi Health Post, Ward-1 informed about 50 pregnant women visit the health post for their regular checkup. Jha further informed, Iron and Calcium tablets are essential medicines for pregnant women; there has been a shortage of Calcium tablet since July 19 2026.
Sanjay Thakur, Chief of Launiya Health Post, Ward -2 said they are running short of allergy related medicines since June 29 2026.
Jaiprakash Sah, Chief of Sakarpura Health Post, Ward-3 said calcium tablet required for about 50 pregnant women has not been available since Mid-May – Mid-June.
Ram Avtar Sah, Chief of Koiladi Health Post, Ward- 4 said Amlod-5 a medicine used by high blood pressure patients has run out since July 21 2026. He further informed the shortage of medicine has impacted 22 patients.
Manoj Prasad Dev, Chief of Barsain Health Post, Ward -5 said essential iron and calcium tablets required for about 100 pregnant women, there has been shortage of calcium tablets since July 9 2026.
Vishnudev Sah, Chief of Madhepura Basic Health Center, Ward- 6 informed currently the center is not facing any shortage of essential medicines.
Surendra Pratap Sah, Chief of Mansapur Basic Health Center said currently there are about 60 pregnant women and 12 patients with high blood pressure are receiving treatment. He said since July 4 2026 Iron tablets have not been available similarly Amlod-5 tablet is unavailable since July 17 2026.
Pappu Kumar Ram, Chief of Topa Basic Health Center, Ward -8, informed they have been facing shortage of medicines related to allergy since June 12 2026. Ram further shared in a month about 70 patients with allergy visit the center for their treatment.
According to information gathered from the health institutions, at least 260 pregnant women across the rural municipality have been impacted by the shortage of essential medicines such as iron and calcium tablets. In addition, 34 patients with high blood pressure have been deprived of Amlod-5, while approximately 85 allergy patients per month in Wards 2 and 8 have been impacted by the shortage of anti-allergy medicines.
Health workers stated that the regular use of iron and calcium supplements during pregnancy plays a vital role in protecting the health of both mothers and unborn babies. They additionally that if the shortage of these essential medicines continues for an extended period, it could adversely affect the health of pregnant women and patients with long term illnesses.
Arun Kumar Mandal, Chairperson of the Rural Municipality, acknowledged the shortage of medicines at the health facilities. He stated that the situation had arisen because it was the end of the fiscal year. He further expressed the municipality’s commitment to completing the necessary tender procedures and administrative approvals to ensure immediate supply of the required medicines.
