Two Boys Die After Being Swept Away by Flash Flood While Returning Home from School

Two children have died after being swept away by a flash flood in the Khahare stream at Ratamata, Ward No. 6 of Gangadev Rural Municipality. According to the District Police Office of Rolpa, the incident occurred on the evening of June 3 while they were returning home from school.

The deceased have been identified as Gopal Khadka, 7, son of Nim Bahadur Khadka, and Samir KC, 6, son of Sarbajit Khatri, both local residents.

Following the incident, a joint team of local residents and police launched a search operation. During the search, the bodies of both children were recovered, informed Krishna Shrestha, Information Officer and Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Rolpa.

Gopal Khadka was a Grade 1 student, while Samir KC was studying in kindergarten.

As the monsoon season begins, the police have warned that the risk of sudden flooding in streams and small rivers increases significantly and have urged parents and students to exercise special caution.
