A 17-year-old boy has been sentenced to one year and four months in jail by the Rupandehi District Court for attempting to take a 16-year-old girl to India by luring her with various inducements.
According to Padam Aryal, Information Officer at the District Court, the bench of Judge Ashok Basnet on April 22 convicted the accused and handed down the sentence.
As the accused had escaped from Bhaktapur jail during the Gen-Z on September 8 and 9, the court ordered the sentence to be recovered upon his arrest.
The victim’s side had filed a complaint at the District Police Office, Rupandehi, on June 30, 2025, accusing him of human trafficking and transportation after police rescued the girl while he was allegedly taking her to India on June 28, 2025, by showing various inducements. Police arrested the accused from Kalidaha on June 30, 2025.
The victim underwent a health examination at Bhim Hospital, Bhairahawa, on June 30, 2025.
