A bulldozer operation carried out against a landless family in Sakarpura Tole of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-3, on the morning of April 17, resulted in the death of one elderly person, while 36 children, two pregnant women, five postpartum mothers, and two children with disabilities were affected.

According to the victims, the houses of five landless families were demolished using a bulldozer in the morning under the instruction of Ward No. 3 Chairperson Ramesh Mukhiya. Following the demolition, the families have been forced to live under the open sky.

After witnessing the demolition of the houses, 85-year-old Ratani Devi Mukhiya became unconscious. Her health condition continued to deteriorate afterward, and she died during treatment at the District Hospital in Rajbiraj on April 19, according to her family.

According to victim Pradeep Mukhiya, after the houses were demolished, children have been staying under the scorching sun during the day and under the open sky at night. As a result, children have started suffering from health problems such as fever, cold, cough, and chills, he said.

The victimized families have alleged that the houses were demolished without allowing them to remove food supplies, clothes, citizenship certificates, birth registration documents, marriage registration documents, and even the children’s books and notebooks.
