Escapee from Jhumka Jail Arrested

Police arrested Satan Paswan, 39, of Dhanpalthan Rural Municipality-1, Morang, who has escaped from Jhumka Jail, on May 17, according to DSP Leela Raj Lamichhane of the District Police Office.

The prison administrator, Subhas Lamichhane, stated that Paswan had been serving a 19-year jail sentence at Jhumka Jail after the Morang District Court sentenced him to 10 years in jail for attempted killing and robbery, and an additional 9 years for theft. He had escaped during the Gen-Z protest on September 9, 2025.

Police stated that following the court verdict, Paswan had been absconding from prison and hiding at his home in Jahada when he was arrested.

Police further informed that Paswan was presented before the Morang District Court on May 18, 2026, and on the same day was sent to the District Prison Office, Morang, to continue serving his sentence.
