Two-and-a-Half-Year Prison Sentence for Marital Rape

A man has been sentenced by the Parbat District Court to two years and six months in jail, along with a fine for committing marital rape.

The court bench of Judge Basudev Paudel on May 4, 2026, sentenced the 51-year-old man from Modi Rural Municipality–6 to two years and six months imprisonment and ordered him to pay Rs. 50,000 in compensation.

According to the complaint, the accused had repeatedly raped his wife even while she was physically incapacitated, with the latest incident occurring on September 11, 2025. The victim’s side filed a complaint at the District Police Office, Parbat, on September 14.

Police arrested the accused on the same day and proceeded with the investigation. The District Government Attorney’s Office, Parbat, registered a rape case at the Parbat District Court on October 9 under the charge of rape. Although the court had ordered the accused to post bail during the hearing on October 9, he was initially sent to custody after failing to pay the amount. He was later released on November 10, 2025, after depositing the required bail amount.
