Convicts in Two Child Rape Cases Sentenced to 18 Years Each

Two individuals convicted in separate child rape cases have each been sentenced to 18 years in jail and ordered to pay Rs. 700,000 in compensation to the victims, as per the verdict of the District Court, Dhading.

In the first case, a complaint was filed at the Area Police Office, Gajuri, on March 3, 2025, against Kaman Singh Pulami, 24, of Sitganga Municipality–11, Arghakhanchi, on charges of raping a 13-year-old girl on February 28. Based on the complaint, police arrested the accused on March 4. The bench of District Court Judge Mankumari G.M. BK delivered the sentence in the rape case on April 22, 2026, according to Court Registrar Rajendra Luitel.

The convicted Pulami has been sentenced to 18 years in prison, ordered to pay Rs. 700,000 in compensation to the victim, and Rs. 28,000 to be deposited in the victim relief fund as a fine. He has been in judicial custody at the district prison since March 23, 2025, for trial proceedings.

Similarly, a bench of Judge Mankumari G.M. BK on April 21, 2026, sentenced Jagat Bahadur Koirala, 32, of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality–3 to 18 years in jail, with an order to pay Rs. 700,000 in compensation to the victim and Rs. 28,000 to the victim relief fund, Registrar Luitel stated.

In this case, Koirala was accused of raping a 14-year-old girl on April 29, 2025. The victim’s side had filed a complaint against him at the police station on October 9, 2025.
