Inisha BK Killing: Family Receives Body After 27 Days

The body of Inisha BK, 16, a resident of Gurvakot Municipality–6, Badakhola, and currently living in Birendranagar Municipality–1, who was alleged to have been killed following rape, was cremated by her family in the Bheri River on April 2, 27 days after the incident.

On the morning of March 7, at around 6:00 AM, she had left home saying she was going to attend a practical class. At around 9:00 AM, she was found unconscious in the Janajagaran Community Forest, located to the north of Birendranagar Municipality–4. When the police took her to the Provincial Hospital, doctors declared her dead.

On the same day, police detained a 16-year-old boy from the incident site, who stated that he was Inisha’s boyfriend. In his statement, he mentioned that he had called other friends for assistance. Similarly, three other boys aged 14, 15, and 16 were arrested on the 8th and investigated. On March 8, the victim’s family filed a complaint against the accused at the District Police Office, Surkhet.

The police submitted the investigation report to the Government Attorney’s Office on March 25. The District Government Attorney’s Office filed a charge sheet at the District Court on Chaitra 15. A bench led by Judge Deepak Dhakal of the Surkhet District Court, on March 31, ordered that all four accused minors be sent to a child reform home.

The family had refused to receive the body, demanding a truthful, factual, and impartial investigation into the incident. The post-mortem of the body was conducted on March 9 at the Provincial Hospital, Surkhet.
