Accused Arrested in Killing Case

The police arrested Md. Arif Dhapali, along with his mother and sister, on March 29 in connection with the killing of Shrijana Budha, 22, a resident of Koreanpur, Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-12.

According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s family, the accused murdered Budha, set fire to her body to conceal her identity, and dumped the corpse on the road in Koreanpur on the same day.

The burned body was taken to Bheri Hospital, where doctors declared her dead at 1:20 AM on March 29.

The deceased had a four-year-old daughter and, after divorcing her first husband, had been living with the accused Dhapali in a live-in relationship for the past two years, according to a press release issued by the police.

According to a press release issued by the District Police Office, Banke, after Md. Arif allegedly beat the deceased on March 27; the police arrested him that same night and kept him in custody. On March 28, an agreement was reached between the two parties to avoid further disputes and to live together harmoniously. The police stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The post-mortem of the body is being conducted at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj, and the report has not yet been received.
