A few years ago, Lumbini Province Assembly member Rekha Sharma, accused of keeping a minor girl as a domestic worker, was arrested on the night of March 29, from her residence in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu, by a team from the Valley Crime Investigation Office.
Sharma, who was elected from the CPN (UML), faces allegations of committing an offense against children by engaging a minor in domestic labor. Earlier, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City had rescued the girl from her house.
Police have taken Sharma into custody and have initiated further investigation under the Act Relating to Children.
