Charge Sheet Filed in Inisa Killing Case; Family Still Dissatisfied

The District Government Attorney’s Office has filed a charge sheet in court in the case of Inisa BK,  16, who was allegedly raped and murdered. On March 29, the District Government Attorney’s Office registered the charge sheet at the District Court Surkhet.

Inisa, originally from Gurbhakot Municipality–6, Badakhola, had been living with her family in Birendranagar Municipality–1. On the morning of March 7, at around 6 AM, she left home saying she was going to attend a practical class. Around 9 AM, she was found unconscious in the Janajagaran Community Forest, located north of Birendranagar Municipality–4. Police rushed her to the Provincial Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. On the same day, police arrested a 16-year-old boy from the scene, who stated that he was her boyfriend.

Body not claimed for 24 days, sit-in demanding justice

Inisa’s body has remained unclaimed for 23 days. Demanding an impartial investigation, family members and rights activists staged a sit-in in front of the District Court on March 29. Protesters called for the truth behind the incident to be made public and demanded strict action against the perpetrator(s). Expressing distrust in the investigation, they pressured authorities to ensure a fair and transparent process.

The family has expressed suspicion regarding the cause of Inisa’s death from the very beginning. Dissatisfied with the postmortem report, they have demanded a reinvestigation. Her body is still kept at the Provincial Hospital mortuary.

The victim’s family has raised concerns about the postmortem findings. “I had doubts from the very beginning. Seeing my daughter in that condition, I do not trust the postmortem report,” said Inisa’s mother, Tila. “If not only this report but also others come out the same, we will launch protests.”

Her father, Indra Bahadur, who returned to Nepal after hearing the news of his daughter’s death, said his leave from work is running out. “It has already been 23 days since my daughter died,” he said. “I am beginning to doubt whether she will get justice.”

The family claims that the police have not provided clear information about the incident so far. “It feels like the case is becoming more mysterious,” Indra Bahadur said. “The reports appear normal, but we don’t know what aspects have been investigated. We are starting to fear that our daughter may not get justice.” The case has been investigated by four teams of Nepal Police, including the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
