Escapee Inmate from Central Jail Arrested

An inmate who had escaped from the Central Jail during the protest has been arrested by police on March 19.

Bishnu Bahadur Gurung, 56, a resident of Devghat, Tanahun, who had been serving his sentence at the Central Jail, had escaped during the Gen-Z protest. Gurung had been convicted in a case involving the trade of tiger skin and was serving a 15-year sentence along with a fine of Rs. 100,000.

According to Shiva Kumar Shrestha, spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Gurung, who had escaped during the protest, was arrested in Kanki. He stated that Gurung has been sent to the Central Jail Office, Jagannathdeval, to serve the remainder of his sentence.
