The victim’s family filed a complaint at the District Police Office, Parsa, on March 15, 2026, accusing individuals of beating a Dalit family in Mahuwan of Sakhuwa Prasauni Rural Municipality–5.
Malti Ram, 45, and her nephew Bablu Kumar Ram, 7, were injured in the beating and are currently receiving treatment at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj. Malti sustained a head injury, while Bablu’s left arm was fractured and has been placed in a cast. According to the victim, Malti, they have long faced discrimination and humiliation due to being Dalit, and the assault occurred after she spoke out against such discriminatory behavior.
According to Superintendent of Police Hari Bahadur Basnet, the names of the accused have not been made public as the investigation is ongoing. SP Basnet stated that the accused are currently absconding, and a search operation is underway.
Similarly, on March 14, a team from the National Dalit Commission led by member Sundar Purkuti visited the victim’s family and gathered information about the incident. The team included former Madhesh Province Assembly member Sundar Bishwakarma, Central Secretary of Mukti Samaj Nepal Mandev Hajara, and Sudendra Paswan.
