Seven individuals were arrested by the Mahottari Police on March 11 on charges of involvement in human trafficking and transportation.
According to police, the arrests were made after questioning a 23-year-old woman who was being taken toward India under suspicious circumstances. Those arrested include Sadik Baksu, 36, of Gujarat, India; Hasan Abkhula, 56, of the same place; Kishan Bhagwanbhai, 28, Gadhiya; Sunil Bhagwanbhai, 28, Gadhiya; a 50-year-old woman from Mithila Bihari Municipality–3 in Dhanusha; an 18-year-old girl from Bhangaha Municipality–3 in Mahottari; and 45-year-old Nu Ali, also known as Nuni Baba, a resident of Bhangaha Municipality–8. According to the preliminary police investigation, the victim stated that she was being taken to India after being lured with the promise of marriage. DSP Shailendra Bhatt said that a case has been registered against all seven accused under the charge of human trafficking and transportation.
