The police arrested Bhisma Sitoula, 34, of Rajpati Chowk, Chapramari-5, Gauradaha Municipality, on March 8, on the charges of beating Mayor Chhatrapati Subedi of Gauradaha Municipality.
Mayor Subedi alleged that the accused came to his house and beat him over issues related to the election results.
After receiving the news of the incident, the accused was arrested for investigation, said Constable Chandrabahadur Karki of Maharani Jhoda Police Post.
The accused has been kept at the Area Police Office, Damak, for investigation.
