Youth Clash Leaves Two Police Officers and One Local Injured; Twelve Arrested

A clash broke out between two groups of youths in Kailali Gaun, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City–13, on the evening of March 3. While attempting to bring the situation under control, three individuals, including two police personnel, were injured.

Police arrested 12 individuals involved in the clash on March 3, including Ramdayal Rana, Rakesh Sunar, Narsingh Rana, and Jitendra Rana of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City–13, Kailali Gaun.

According to DSP Yogendra Timilsina of the District Police Office, Kailali, the dispute occurred due to a long-standing rivalry between youths of two local settlements in the village. While trying to control the situation, Assistant Sub-Inspector Dabal Saud, Inspector Balram Pandey, and a local resident, Lokesh Khatri, sustained injuries.

DSP Timilsina stated that the clash escalated during Holi celebrations between the two groups. When police attempted to control the situation, local youths attacked the police, vandalized the police van number BAC 3480, and assaulted officers involved in controlling the clash. Following the incident, 12 local youths were arrested and are currently under investigation.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Saud, who sustained minor injuries during the clash, received treatment at a local health post, while Inspector Pandey and local resident Khatri are undergoing treatment at Maya Metro Hospital in Dhangadhi, Inspector Timilsina added.

As the clash occurred near the polling center at Janata National Secondary School, Rajpur, under Electoral Constituency No. 5, security arrangements have been tightened in view of the election, the District Police Office stated.
