Sub-Engineer, Pramod Kumar Yadav, 32, who was working at the District Infrastructure Development Office in Malangwa, was shot dead on the night of February 15. In connection with the murder, the District Police Office, Sarlahi, arrested Ganesh Kumar Mahato,32, a technician working at Ramnagar Rural Municipality, along with his brother-in-law Chandra Kishor Singh Kushwaha, 22, and Bijay Kumar Mahato, 22.
According to SP Yogendra Kumar Khadka, Ganesh Kumar Mahato of Ramgopalpur Municipality–5, Mahottari, was arrested on February 24. Bijay, also from the same place, was arrested on February 26, and Chandra Kishor of Barahathwa Municipality–3, Sarlahi, was arrested on February 27.
As per the results published on February 16, under the Public Service Commission, the deceased Yadav had been recommended for appointment to the post of Sub-Engineer (Fifth Level). SP Khadka informed that Ganesh Kumar Mahato, who was an alternate candidate in the same Public Service examination, allegedly planned the murder out of greed to secure the government job as the main contender.
Police stated that one pistol used in the murder, one spent bullet casing, a motorcycle with registration number BR 01 FZ 1082, and three mobile phones were recovered.
