Police have arrested Dipika Pal, 20, Payal Luhar, 21, and Surendra Bam of Mahakali Municipality–4 on February 10 on charges of killing Police Head Constable Yogendra Gharti, 40, a resident of Mahakali Municipality–4 who was serving at the Community Police Service Centre, on the night of February 9.
Head Constable Gharti was found dead behind a hotel located in Bangabagada, Mahakali Municipality–4, on February 10.
Four other accused individuals involved in and assisting with the incident are currently absconding. Those on the run include Ashik Pal, operator of Asmita Beer Bar; his elder wife, Laxmi Badu; his brother, Manish Pal; and Rajendra Dadal, who allegedly assisted in the management of the body, according to SSP Padam Bahadur Bista of the Sudurpashchim Province Police Office, Dhangadhi.
According to ASP Bista, preliminary investigation has revealed that Dipika, who was arrested, is Ashik Pal’s younger wife, and that Ashik assaulted Head Constable Gharti after alleging that Gharti had teased her at the Asmita Beer Bar.
SSP Bista stated that injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon were found on Head Constable Gharti’s head. The Provincial Police Office reported that a search is ongoing for those absconding and that the body has been sent to the District Hospital, Darchula, for post-mortem examination.
