The roof of Kanda Secondary School, located in Saipal Rural Municipality–3 in the district’s mountainous area, was blown away by a storm accompanied by heavy rain, and because it has not been repaired, teaching and learning have been affected.
The school administration has reported that the roof was completely damaged due to the severe storm and rain that occurred on the night of 23 January 2026, and that the damage caused by the roof being blown away is estimated at Rs. 600,000.

After the building was damaged, the lack of classrooms has made it difficult to conduct regular teaching and learning, said the school’s headmaster, Ramesh Jethara. He said, “After the roof was blown away, the classrooms are not usable. Both students and teachers are facing problems.”
Teacher Ujwal Bohara informed that the damage details have been collected and submitted to the police station. He also said that support has been requested from the local government for the school’s reconstruction.
Bikash Gurung, a student studying in Grade 9, said that the storm damaged the school building and the heavy snowfall has caused extreme cold, which has further disrupted teaching and learning.
This school, which runs classes up to Grade 12, has 270 students enrolled.
