Nominations Filed by 209 Candidates Across 16 Constituencies in Sudurpaschim

For the election of Members of the House of Representatives scheduled to be held on March 5, 2026, a total of 209 candidates from various political parties and independent candidates have filed their nominations across 16 constituencies of all nine districts of Sudurpashchim Province.

According to INSEC Darchula representative Narendra Singh Karki, 11 candidates have filed their nominations from the district for the House of Representatives election. Nomination filing by various political parties was completed on January 20, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

According to Vishnu Prasad Awasthi, Information Officer at the Office of the Chief Election Officer, from this district—which has only one constituency—candidates who registered their nominations include Dharmananda Joshi from the Nepali Congress, Ganesh Singh Thagunna from CPN-UML, Laxman Datt Joshi from the Nepal Communist Party, Rajesh Singh Samant from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rajesh Chand from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and Birkha Raj Pant from Rastriya Janamorcha.

Similarly, Ramesh Kumar Rawal from the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Gagan Singh Thagunna from the Federal Democratic National Forum, Prem Singh Badal from the Aam Janata Party, Navaraj Bhatt from the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), and Vidya Devi Joshi from the CPN United have also filed their nominations.

For the election scheduled on March 5, the district has 92,948 voters, including 45,913 women and 47,755 men. A total of 112 polling stations and 143 polling centers have been designated across the district.

According to INSEC representative Sher Bahadur Bhandari, 13 candidates have filed nominations in the district for the House of Representatives election. They submitted their nominations at the Office of the Chief Election Officer on January 20.

Among those filing nominations are 10 candidates from various political parties and three independent candidates. According to the Office of the Chief Election Officer, Dadeldhura, nominees include Chakra Prasad Sneh from CPN-UML, Nain Singh Mahara from the Nepali Congress, Man Singh Mal from the Nepal Communist Party, Dr. Tara Prasad Joshi from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Govinda Khadayat from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party.

Similarly, Khadak Bahadur Thakurathi from the Aam Janata Party, Chandra Dev Bik from Rastriya Janamorcha, Surendra Raj Bhatt from the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Laxmi Datt Bhatt from the Jayamatribhoomi Party, and Mahendra Pun Magar from the Labour Culture Party have filed their nominations.

Three individuals, Gorakh Bahadur Airee, Surendra Rawal, and Tirtha Raj Upreti, have filed as independent candidates, informed Chief Election Officer Arun Kumar Koirala.

The district has only one constituency for the House of Representatives, with a total of 93,403 voters.

According to INSEC Baitadi representative Nari Badu, 12 candidates—from 10 political parties and two independents—have filed nominations for the House of Representatives election in the district.

According to Chief Election Officer Tirtha Raj Bhatt, candidates who registered their nominations include Bhupen Bahadur Chand from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Navaraj Koirala from the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Damodar Bhandari from CPN-UML, Gajendra Raj Pandey from the Labour Culture Party, and Ram Bahadur Kunwar from the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist).

Similarly, Chatur Bahadur Chand from the Nepali Congress, Bishan Singh Bohara from the Aam Janata Party, Parmananda Bhatt from the Nepal Communist Party, Hari Mohan Bhandari from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Aan Singh Bhandari from the Janata Samajwadi Party have filed nominations.

Former Nepali Congress member Tej Bahadur Chand and another independent candidate Jayaprakash Pant have registered independent nominations. Chief Election Officer Tirtha Raj Bhatt stated that the nomination process was completed peacefully within the timeframe set by the Election Commission.

According to INSEC Doti representative Subas Nepali, candidates from various political parties have filed nominations for the upcoming House of Representatives election in the district.

In this district, which has only one constituency, nine candidates from major and smaller parties have entered the electoral race. Deepak Dhami, Central President of ANNFSU, has filed his nomination from CPN-UML, while Bharat Bahadur Khadka is the candidate from the Nepali Congress. Former Sudurpashchim Province Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatt has filed his nomination from the Nepal Communist Party.

Similarly, Narendra Khadka from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Prakash Kathayat from the CPN (Maoist Centre), Khadak Prasad Agrawal from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Khagendra Bahadur Shahi from the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Saraswati Kumari Pal Mall from the Miteri Nepal Party, and Mani Raj Bhatt from Rastriya Janamorcha have filed nominations, according to the Office of the Chief Election Officer.

The District Administration Office stated that the nomination process was completed peacefully with necessary security arrangements in place. Chief District Officer Kalpana Ghimire Nepal said that coordination with all stakeholders is ongoing to ensure a free, fair, and fear-free election.

According to INSEC Bajura representative Padam Bahadur Singh, eight candidates, including one independent, have filed nominations for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

On January 20, one independent and seven candidates from various political parties submitted their nominations at the Office of the Chief Election Officer in Martadi. According to the Office, those who filed nominations within the stipulated time include independent candidate Upendra Shahi, Hem Raj Thapa from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Keshar Bahadur Shahi from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Lal Bahadur Thapa from CPN-UML, Deepak Kumar D.C. from the Progressive Democratic Party, Prakash Bahadur Thapa from the Nepal Communist Party, Janak Giri from the Nepali Congress, and Bhupendra Luwar from the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist).

Chief Election Officer Sanjiv Pokhrel urged candidates and political parties to cooperate in conducting the election in a peaceful, clean, and fair manner. Meanwhile, violations of the Election Code of Conduct, 2025 issued by the Election Commission were observed. Although the code prohibits processions of more than 25 people and bans the use of musical instruments and rallies during nomination filing or door-to-door campaigns, some candidates and parties were found to have violated these provisions.

According to INSEC Kanchanpur representative Lili Kunwar, 55 candidates have filed nominations from all three House of Representatives constituencies in the district. According to the Office of the Chief Election Officer, 19 candidates filed nominations in Constituency No. 1, 19 in Constituency No. 2, and 17 in Constituency No. 3.

The nomination process across all constituencies in the district was completed peacefully with the participation of candidates from various political parties as well as independent candidates. Candidates ranged from youths of the Gen-Z generation to experienced and senior individuals who have contested multiple elections.

In this election, former ministers NP Saud, Bina Magar, Tara Lama Tamang, and Man Bahadur Sunar, former Member of Parliament Dr. Dipak Prakash Bhatt, and first Constituent Assembly member Puran Ranatharu, among others, have also filed their nominations from Kanchanpur.

According to INSEC Kailali representative Mainamoti Chaudhary, nomination filing for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, was completed peacefully across all five constituencies in the district.

On January 20, between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, a total of 64 candidates filed nominations across the five constituencies. According to Chet Raj Pant, Information Officer at the Office of the Chief Election Officer, 10 candidates filed nominations in Constituency No. 1, 16 in Constituency No. 2, 11 in Constituency No. 3, 16 in Constituency No. 4, and 16 in Constituency No. 5.

For the upcoming election, the district has 551,052 voters, including 280,243 women, 270,798 men, and 11 others. A total of 237 polling stations and 641 polling centers have been designated across the district.

According to INSEC Bajhang representative Satya Raj Singh, seven candidates have filed nominations in the district for the upcoming House of Representatives election. According to the Office of the Chief Election Officer, Bajhang, all seven nominations were filed within the stipulated time.

Candidates include Ain Mahar, Central Committee Member and District In-charge of CPN-UML, Prakash Sneh Rasaily, Co-General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Min Bahadur Kunwar from the Nepal Communist Party, Bishwo Prakash Jethara from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Shailesh Singh from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Dal Bahadur Bohara from the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, and Bharat Malla from the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist).

During the nomination process, some party leaders and cadres were found to have violated the election code of conduct by appearing with musical instruments and chanting slogans. The Office of the Chief Election Officer urged all political parties and candidates to strictly adhere to the code of conduct.
