Candidates Filed in Karnali’s 12 Constituencies

For the House of Representatives election scheduled to be held on March 5, 2026, a total of 137 candidates, from various political parties as well as independent candidate,s have filed their nominations across 12 constituencies of Karnali Province. In Surkhet Constituency No. 2, the provincial capital, 17 candidates have filed nominations. These include Narayan Koirala from the Nepali Congress, Kulmani Devkota from CPN-UML, and Jhak Bahadur Malla from the Nepal Communist Party (NCP).

Similarly, Ramesh Kumar Sapkota from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Kabiram Puri from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), and Gambhir Singh Bhul from the Ujyalo Nepal Party (UNP) have filed their nominations. From other parties, Tulchha Malla (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party), Dip Bahadur Nepali (Janata Samajwadi Party), Dharmaraj Devkota (CPN–Maoist), Pawan Thapa Magar (Progressive Democratic Party), Purna Bahadur Shahi (Rastriya Janamorcha), Prem Bahadur Tarami (CPN–United), Rajendra Ramjali (Shram Sanskriti Party), and Hridayachandra Adhikari (Nepal Jansewa Party) have also registered their candidacies. In addition, Udiram Chunara, Krishna Khatri, and Ramesh Khatri have filed nominations as independent candidates.

In Surkhet Constituency No. 1, Bishnu Khadka from the Nepali Congress, Dhurva Kumar Shahi from CPN-UML, Jit Bahadur Rana from the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Tek Bahadur Singh from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Ravikiran Hamal from the RPP have filed nominations. Likewise, Gaj Bahadur Khaptadi (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party), Hiru Shahi (CPN–Maoist), Mohan Thapa (Rastriya Janamorcha), Bir Bahadur Rana (Shram Sanskriti Party), Resham Senchury (Aam Janata Party), Dhan Singh Sarki (Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal), Thammar Bahadur Bista (Ujyalo Nepal Party), and Prakash Budha Magar (Miteri Nepal) have registered their candidacies.

According to INSEC Dailekh Representative Amar Sunar, there has been enthusiastic participation by both political parties and independent candidates in the nomination process in both constituencies. In both constituencies, nine political parties have filed nominations, while one independent candidate in Constituency No. 1 and two independent candidates in Constituency No. 2 have registered their nominations.

According to information provided by the Office of the Chief Election Officer, in Dailekh Constituency No. 1, Basana Thapa from the Nepali Congress, former MP Ammar Bahadur Thapa from the Nepal Communist Party, Jagat Bahadur Oli from the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Nand Kishor Basnet from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Nar Bahadur Singh from the Rastriya Janamorcha, and Menaka Shrestha from the Aam Janata Party have filed nominations. Likewise, Ran Bahadur Singh from the RPP, Rabindra Raj Sharma from CPN-UML, Ramlal Bishwakarma from the CPN (Maoist), commonly known as the Biplav group, and 65-year-old Log Bahadur Bogati as the sole independent candidate have also registered their candidacies.

In Constituency No. 2, Kamal Bahadur Barai Magar (Rastriya Janamorcha), Bakhat Bahadur Thapa (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party), Kalam Singh (CPN–Maoist, Biplav group), Bakhat Bahadur Shahi (Rastriya Swatantra Party), Yogendra Bahadur Shahi (Nepal Communist Party), Laxmi Prasad Pokhrel (CPN-UML), and Babita Kumari Shahi (RPP) have filed nominations. Similarly, Dikpal Kumar Shahi from the Nepali Congress, Tirtha Kumari Banshi Magar from the Aam Janata Party, and two independent candidates, Lal Bahadur Kathayat and Him Bahadur Shahi, have filed nominations for the post of Member of the House of Representatives. In this constituency, a total of 11 candidates, including party and independent candidates, have filed nominations.

According to INSEC Rukum West Representative Jeevan Khadka, 12 candidates have filed nominations from the district. As per the Office of the Chief Election Officer, Nanda Ram Devkota (CPN-UML), Gopal Sharma (Nepal Communist Party), Raju KC (Nepali Congress), Janardan Sharma (Progressive Democratic Party), Man Bahadur Shahi (Rastriya Swatantra Party), Gopal Khadka (Rastriya Prajatantra Party), and Satyanarayan Shrestha (Rastriya Janamorcha) have registered their candidacies.

Similarly, Chandra Bahadur Budha (CPN–Maoist), Narendra KC (Ujyalo Party Nepal), Sher Bahadur KC (CPN–United), Prema Damai Nepali (Aam Janata Party), and Dhan Bahadur BK (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party) have also filed nominations. This time, no independent candidates have filed nominations from Rukum West.

According to INSEC Jajarkot Representative Basudev Sharma, Ratna Bahadur Khadka (Rastriya Janamorcha), Karna Bahadur Nepali (Ujyalo Nepal Party), Bal Bahadur Malla “Paurakh” (CPN–Maoist), Mekh Bahadur Oli (Progressive Democratic Party), Raghav Karki (Rastriya Swatantra Party), Krishna Bikram Shah (Rastriya Prajatantra Party), and Dhaniram Jaisi (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party) have filed nominations.

Likewise, Shakti Bahadur Basnet (Nepal Communist Party), Dambar Bahadur Singh (CPN-UML), and Khadga Bahadur Budha (Nepali Congress) have also registered their candidacies.

According to INSEC Humla Representative Nanda Singh, eight political parties have filed nominations in the district. These include Jayapati Rokaya (Nepali Congress), Dal Bahadur Fadera (CPN-UML), Dr. Dipendra Rokaya (Nepal Communist Party), Kumma Budha (CPN–Maoist), Tashi Lhazom (Rastriya Swatantra Party), Chhak Budha (Rastriya Prajatantra Party), Jatil Karki (Progressive Party), and Jay Bahadur Shahi (Miteri Nepal Party).

According to INSEC Jumla Representative Mandatta Rawal, 10 candidates, including one independent, have filed nominations. Shantilal Mahat (CPN-UML), Deep Bahadur Shahi (Nepali Congress), Naresh Bhandari (NCP), Binita Kathayat (Rastriya Swatantra Party), and Gyan Bahadur Shahi (RPP) have filed nominations.

Similarly, Birkha Bahadur Rawat (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party), Manrishi Dhital (Pralopa), Ranil Bikram Shahi (Nepal Jansewa Party), Birkha Bahadur Shahi (CPN–Maoist), and Bhakta Bahadur Rawal, as an independent candidate, have registered their nominations, according to the Jumla Office of the Chief Election Officer.

In Mugu, candidates from various political parties have also filed their nominations at the Office of the Chief Election Officer with shows of strength.

These include Khadak Bahadur Shahi (Nepali Congress), Purna Bahadur Rokaya (CPN-UML), Chandra Bahadur Shahi (Nepal Communist Party), Bal Bahadur Malla (Rastriya Prajatantra Party), Rangbir Pariyar (CPN–Maoist led by Biplav), and Aitan Malla (Progressive Democratic Party).

According to INSEC Salyan Representative Ramchandra Regmi, 16 candidates, 14 from political parties and two independents—have filed nominations. These include Kesh Bahadur Bista (Nepali Congress), Ramesh Malla (NCP), Gulabjang Shah (CPN-UML), Lalit Kumar Chand (Rastriya Swatantra Party), Chandra Bahadur Khadka (CPN–Maoist), Lal Bahadur Thapa (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party), Anisa Nepali (Rastriya Prajatantra Party), Dilli Bahadur Gharti (National Republican Nepal), Santosh Kumar Rai (Progressive Democratic Party), Man Singh Kami (Aam Janata Party), and Kalidas BK (United Citizens Party).

Similarly, Kamala Dangi (Janamorcha), Bal Singh Gharti (Mongol National Organization), Dhan Bahadur Budha (Shram Sanskriti), and independent candidates Dhruva Raj Oli and Judha Kumar Singh have also filed nominations.

According to INSEC Dolpa Representative Bishnu Devkota, nine candidates, including one independent, have filed nominations. These include Dhan Bahadur Budha (NCP), Karna Bahadur Budha (Nepali Congress), Lank Bahadur Rokaya (CPN-UML), Dev Singh Aidi (Rastriya Swatantra Party), Hari Prasad Dangi (Rastriya Prajatantra Party), Junu Bhandari (Miteri Nepal Party), Bikas Budha (Progressive Democratic Party), and Dil Bahadur Bista (Ujyalo Nepal Party). Additionally, Omendra KC has filed a nomination as an independent candidate.

According to INSEC Kalikot Representative Kalibahadur Malla, 14 candidates have filed nominations. These include Mahendra Bahadur Shahi (Nepal Communist Party), Nagindra Shahi ‘National’ (CPN-UML), Harsh Bahadur Bam (Nepali Congress), and Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma (CPN–Maoist).

Likewise, Prakash Nyaupane (Rastriya Swatantra Party), Nanda Bahadur Shahi (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party), Ajay Giri (Rastriya Janamorcha), Dharmaraj Nyaupane (Progressive Democratic Party), and Prem Singh Tiruwa (Deshbhakta Party) have also filed nominations.

Furthermore, Jeevan Budha, a leader of the Nepal Communist Party, has filed an independent candidacy against his party’s official candidate, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, while Bhupendra Jung Shahi has filed an independent candidacy against Nepali Congress candidate Harsh Bahadur Bam. Other independent candidates include Man Bahadur Tiruha and Asmin Kumar Bista, according to the District Election Office, Kalikot.
