Three-Year Jail Sentence for Abduction and Unlawful Confinement

The Kapilvastu District Court has sentenced Kalim Musalman, 20, of Kapilvastu Municipality–2, and Dinesh Kurmi, 19 of the same locality to three years’ imprisonment each for the offence of abducting and unlawfully confining a 15-year-old girl.

In its bench dated Poush 19, presided over by District Court Judge Dinbandhu Baral, the court found the accused guilty and handed down a sentence of three years’ imprisonment each along with a fine of Rs. 30,000 each, according to information provided by Ananta Marasini, the court’s registrar.

The victim’s side had filed a complaint at the District Police Office, Kapilvastu, on Asar 6, alleging that the accused abducted and unlawfully confined the girl on June 19, 2025. The victim’s medical examination was conducted on June 26 at Kapilvastu Hospital, Taulihawa. Police arrested the accused, Kalim Musalman from his residence on June 26, while the other accused, Dinesh Kurmi, had been absconding.
