For the vacant post of National Assembly member from Lumbini Province, eight individuals have registered candidacies for three seats. Chief Election Officer and District Judge Prakash Prasad Pandit informed that three candidates have been registered from the Nepali Congress–CPN-UML alliance, three from the Communist Party of Nepal, and two from Rastriya Janamorcha. From the Congress–UML alliance, UML’s Ram Kumari Jhakri, and Nepali Congress leaders Basudev Ghimire and Chandra KC have registered their candidacies.

Similarly, from the Communist Party of Nepal, Sarjan BK, Brihaspati Adhikari, and Durga Bhandari have registered their candidacies, while from Rastriya Janamorcha, Bomba Bahadur Khatri and Padma Pandit have filed their nominations, Chief Election Officer Pandit informed. Nomination registration receipts were provided to all eight candidates by Chief Election Officer Prakash Prasad Pandit. Prior to nomination registration, the political parties reached the Election Office in rallies from their respective party offices.
Out of a total of 19 vacant seats in the National Assembly, elections are being held in Lumbini Province for three seats under the persons with disabilities, women, and other cluster categories. Voting will take place on January 25 in which 87 Provincial Assembly members and 217 mayors and deputy mayors from local levels will cast their votes.
