Extension of Curfew in Birgunj: Appeal to Maintain Social Harmony

Considering the possibility of clashes during demonstrations by supporters of two communities, the District Administration Office, Parsa, had initially issued a curfew until the morning of January 5, 2026, which has now been extended until 1 PM today. The curfew was further imposed after demonstrations began in violation of the previous order, according to a notice published by the Administration Office.

As mentioned in the notice, the curfew has been imposed within a four-kilometer radius in the area of Birjung Metropolitan City, Parsa, in pursuance of Section 6(b) of the Local Administration Act, 1971. The curfew prohibits anyone from moving around, holding any gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, meetings, or sit-ins within the area.
